Jump Cut

Purpose: To improve your ability to run at full speed, read a whole in the defense, and react to it while staying at top speed.

Set up: set up each cone a couple feet apart, in a staggered formation following the direction you want to practice.

Tips:
1) Start slow and walk through the drill at first
2) As you progress, increase your speed, while maintaining full control.

Ladder Exercises

Howzit everyone,

Coach Travis here. Just a quick question. Do you wish you could be more explosive on the field? Do you think you have slow feet, and you just cant seem to shake your defender? Do you feel like you have slow jumps on groundballs and pop flies? Well don't worry, I wasn't the fastest kid on my team when I was a little kid either. Matter of fact, I was chubby, overweight, and had two left feet. But after a summer session of speed and agility workouts in Aiea, I realized the importance of athleticism in becoming a better baseball player. Check out the video to start you or your child off on the right track to being faster on the field.

The three drills feature here are the

  • Two In
  • Two In (Lateral)
  • Bunny Hop
I highly recommend that you perform these drills at least twice a week, going down and back 3 times for each exercise. If you are just starting these, you will see a ton of improvement just after a couple weeks. If you are a more advanced player, stay tuned for more Strength and Agility videos from VarsityPrep!
